Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice
The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.
The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Allegations Posted on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the second round.
Police Reports Reportedly Not on File
No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.
Player's Recent Legal Issues
The receiver was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
