Grief as Beloved South African DJ Shot Dead in Johannesburg.

A renowned South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a nation grappling with entrenched crime.

Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was gunned down in the city centre on the afternoon of Tuesday.

Police said the 40-year-old entertainer was approached by a trio of assailants, with one shot at him before running away.

The motive behind the incident has not been established and no one has been arrested are in custody, as per the official statement.

How It Happened

Authorities said that Stock was attacked as he was departing from a premises in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.

He had spent several hours at the property managing the installation of safety equipment, which had been reportedly taken over by unknown people, as per local media.

"The report indicates the man was approached by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they began shooting at him before fleeing the scene on foot," an official report said.

Surveillance tape reportedly captured a man with dreadlocks and wearing what appeared to be a security uniform firing shots on Stock before running away.

The DJ sought to escape after he was wounded but succumbed to his injuries across the street.

Officials noted that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the incident.

Crucial forensic evidence, like bullet casings, were discovered at the scene.

"We know they walked a long distance after the shooting, and investigators have been attempting to locate them to determine their whereabouts," added an official.
