Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a difficult year, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with former mentor Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's initial title following the Italian tournament and first on a hard court since that period of the previous year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had caused some to doubt if his ability to perform at the top level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

The champion came back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his initial tour victory, took control to create a final set.

The opponent saved four early-game break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the title with a rally at the net area, with his opponent incapable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
