Suspected Stalker Inquired: 'Yet Imagine I Might Be Madeleine?'
A female indicted with stalking Kate McCann apparently recorded her a voicemail message which posed: "what if I am Madeleine?"
The defendant, 24, who court testimony revealed has consistently declared she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are on trial indicted with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February the current year.
On Monday, the court was told communication data and evidence obtained from phones documented Ms Wandelt repeatedly demanding Madeleine's mother for a genetic test over 2023 and 2024.
Madeleine's case in 2007 - at the age of three during a trip in Portugal - is among the most covered investigations and remains unresolved.
'I Am Not Seeking Money'
A separate recorded message, played in court, captured Ms Wandelt declaring: "I realize I'm heavy and unattractive like Madeleine used to be, but I believe what I believe."
While another instance of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's voicemail expressed: "What if there is a small chance that I'm her? What then? Isn't that important for you?"
"I don't want money, I maintain a existence here in Poland, I just want to know," she added.
The jury was advised that by means of emails, text messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt demanded a biological test, sent youth pictures to her phone in a attempt to demonstrate a similarity to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and stated to have "recollections" from a youth with the McCanns.
Robert Jones, an intelligence analyst with the police force who collated the information, advised the court there "showed no any replies" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt furthermore contacted close associates of the McCanns, according to the call data.
On 9 October 2024, the father picked up a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "a wrong number."
On that occasion Ms Wandelt left a recording on Mrs McCann's voicemail declaring "I will continue and I plan to establish my claim."
The court heard the co-defendant established a association via internet with Ms Wandelt prior to joining her on a appearance to the McCanns' home in the county in December 2024.
Phone records revealed Mrs Spragg had communicated via WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to state the press had depicted Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she should be considered genuine in the months before the trip to that location, the county, in last December.
The court was told message exchanges between the two accused, in last November, planning endeavoring to obtain Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her trash or from silverware at a dining venue.
"We must assert ourselves," Mrs Spragg told Ms Wandelt.
On the night of the appearance to their house, Mrs Spragg transmitted a text which stated: "We're currently sat outside the McCanns' home with our headlights off like private investigators. I wanted to accomplish this with another person I hadn't anticipated I would be engaged in this with the McCanns."
The trial continues.
