The former Liverpool manager says rejoining to lead Liverpool is plausible in theory.
Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, remarked that rejoining the club remains something that could happen. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful nine-year spell that included Champions League success and the Premier League crown in 30 years, currently occupies positions in a global football capacity for Red Bull and in an advisory capacity to Germany's league body.
Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
The club claimed the Premier League under Arne Slot, yet numerous supporters who adore the manager would be thrilled by the possibility of his potential comeback. Speaking candidly, he explained to Steven Bartlett: “I said I won't manage another team on English soil. So that means in case it's my former club...absolutely. Theoretically it’s possible.”
“Being 58, so I could make the decision in a few years, it's uncertain. Must I choose now? If so, I wouldn't return. Fortunately, it's not necessary. I can just see what the future brings.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
Questioned regarding which situations would need to occur to draw him back to management, Klopp admitted he isn't eager toward coming back. “I'm not entirely sure, I enjoy my current role,” he said. “No longing for management; I avoid standing in the rain for two-and-a-half or three hours; No need for interviews four times, three times a week or constant media duties each week.
“No nostalgia for the changing area per se, but sitting in a restaurant with the players enjoying conversation, I appreciate that. Success was frequent meaning regularly positive atmosphere at the club. I still have the captain's chuckle vividly recalled to illustrate.”
Commending Arne Slot
He spoke highly regarding Arne Slot, praising him due to the changes that took the title last term. The team has suffered a string of losses across various tournaments after a summer spending spree, though he denied the suggestion that it might signal the start of a downward turn.
“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker like Florian Wirtz, you will all eat your words if you use the wrong words. He’s an incredible talent. Ekitike, incredible player. This is a well-built balanced team. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, they'll bounce back.”
Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward
Klopp also spoke emotionally about the death of the Portuguese star, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, along with the consequences for the team. The forward was killed in a vehicle collision together with his sibling this past summer.
“Who can fill the void of a person like him? It’s not about the player himself, it's his character. I can’t imagine the squad without him in it. I still cannot speak properly about it. A profound tragedy for all the boys as well. No one within the club will ever use it for poor performances yet it's the reality. Being in that space where his spirit remains. Coping with it emotionally is not easy. Impossible.”
